Light up

Police responded to suspicious activity in the 23400 block of Southeast Black Nugget Road at 10:12 p.m. Jan. 24 after a man reported someone shining a flashlight into his bedroom window. He also told police he heard someone pushing against the window. The man turned on the bedroom light and the flashlight beam disappeared.

Speed demon

Police stopped a 16-year-old Sammamish boy for reckless driving after he drove 70 mph in a 35 mph zone in the 23500 block of Southeast 24th Street at about 6:40 p.m. Jan. 25. Police contacted the boy’s mother, and she told the officer her son needed to re-attend a driver’s education class and pay for the class himself.

Pot or not

Police disposed of about 3 grams of marijuana after stopping a Bellevue man in the 800 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast on Jan. 26. The man had a medical marijuana card, but the license expired in November, so the officer confiscated the marijuana.

Police contacted a Kent man handing out fliers door to door for a tree service company in a Sammamish neighborhood Jan. 10. The officer advised the man to obtain a city license before soliciting in the city.

Slasher on the loose

Tires were slashed on a vehicle parked in the 3500 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast before Jan. 14.

Lost

A window was damaged on, and a GPS unit was stolen from, a vehicle parked in the 1200 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast before Jan. 14.

Driving under the influence

Police arrested a 30-year-old Bellevue man for driving under the influence in the 1800 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast at about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 14.

Police responded to threats in the 2100 block of Northeast Newton Lane at 2:19 p.m. Dec. 20 after a caller said a 17-year-old former friend badmouthed her on Facebook. The caller also said the girl and her friends intended to find her and beat her up.

Recipe for disaster

A kitchen mixer, guitar and guitar stand, and trading cards were stolen in the 22500 block of Southeast 56th Street before 5:51 p.m. Dec. 30. The estimated loss is $530.

Hungry? Why wait?

Police arrested a 35-year-old Seattle man for stealing food in the 700 block of Northwest Gilman Boulevard at 10:12 p.m. Dec. 30. The estimated loss is $23.60.

Criminal mind

Police arrested a 43-year-old Sammamish woman for shoplifting from Rite Aid, 3066 Issaquah-Pine Lake Road S.E., Dec. 27 after officers viewed surveillance footage of the woman walking out of the store with a cartful of items. Police later arrested the woman at her home, and allowed her to remain at home because she was already under house arrest for a previous crime.

A resident in the 3300 block of 216th Place Southeast said someone threw a wooden signpost through the back window of his vehicle overnight Dec. 28. The signpost was taken from the corner of Southeast 34th Street and 216th Place Southeast.

Unsupported

Police cited a 41-year-old Sammamish man for driving with a suspended license after officers stopped his vehicle near the corner of Southeast Klahanie Boulevard and Issaquah-Pine Lake Road Southeast at about 12:30 a.m. Dec. 30. The man told police his license had been improperly suspended due to child support issues.

Into the woods

A resident in the 20500 block of Southeast 19th Street said a vandal or vandals cut down about 12 large trees on her property in the past several months and then left the fallen trees on the ground at the site, rather than cutting them up for firewood.

Tool time

Tools were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 19700 block of Southeast 23rd Street before Dec. 22.

Christmas caper

Mail was stolen in the 4100 block of 229th Avenue Southeast on Dec. 22. The resident reported the incident to police after a Christmas card she was expecting failed to arrive.

Driving under the influence

Police arrested a 20-year-old Sammamish man for driving under the influence at about 3:30 a.m. Dec. 18, after the officer recorded the man driving at about 75 mph in a 30 mph zone near the corner of Northeast Eighth Street and 244th Avenue Northeast.

Supermarket sweep

A man left Safeway, 630 228th Ave. N.E., without paying for a basket of groceries at about 4 p.m. Dec. 18.

Window-dressing

A window was damaged in a burglary attempt on a residence in the 1800 block of West Beaver Lake Drive before 10 p.m. Dec. 18. The suspect removed a window screen and then broke a window, but did not steal any items from the home.

War on Christmas

Vandals tore Christmas lights from trees and a wreath from a front door in the 1900 block of 263rd Place Southeast early Dec. 19.

Wired

Wire was stolen from a residence in the 900 block of Third Court Northeast before 11:13 a.m. Dec. 14.

Home sweet home

Police responded to a disturbance in the 6100 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast at 4:07 p.m. and discovered a drunken man on a public bus. The officer managed to wake the man. He said he planned to go to The Home Depot and later got off of the bus.

Toxic

Police responded to suspicious activity at Fred Meyer, 6100 East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast, and discovered a drunken man sleeping on a palette outside of the store. Eastside Fire & Rescue transported the man to Swedish/ Issaquah for detoxification.

Bank failure

A Sammamish resident said someone used her bank account information to make fraudulent transactions. The estimated loss is $1,000.

Ski, bummed

A ski jacket was stolen from a vehicle parked in the 24300 block of Southeast 25th Street on Nov. 18. The man told police he initially did not report the theft, but did so after reading about vehicle break-ins in the area.

Deflated

A tire was slashed on a vehicle parked in the 200 block of 217th Avenue Northeast before Dec. 7.

Driving under the influence

Police arrested a 26-year-old Sammamish man for driving under the influence and failure to stop for a police officer along 228th Avenue Southeast at about 3:20 a.m. Nov. 26. Police recorded the vehicle at 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.

Driving under the influence

Police arrested a 59-year-old Sammamish man for driving under the influence at Northeast Sixth Street and 228th Avenue Northeast at about 3:20 a.m. Nov. 27. The officer followed the man down 228th Avenue Northeast as he drove in the middle of the roadway, ignoring the lane markings. The man later told the officer that straddling the lanes is lawful because no other motorists were on the road, and the maneuver is better for road maintenance.

Shop and stop

Sammamish residents said they had been duped in a secret shopper scam online. They had been hired as secret shoppers at local stores. Then, their apparent employer sent them several checks and told them to wire money to the Philippines, as well as their reports on stores. They cashed several checks and sent the money before their bank said the checks were fake. The estimated loss is more than $5,000.

A mailbox was stolen in the 4200 block of East Lake Sammamish Parkway Southeast before Nov. 17.

Driving under the influence

Police arrested a 17-year-old Issaquah girl for driving under the influence in the 23400 block of Southeast 42nd Street at about 11 p.m. Nov. 21. The officer caught the girl driving 57 mph in a 35 mph zone. She admitted to drinking alcohol and smelled of alcohol. Police released her into the custody of her parents.

Smashed

A window was damaged on a vehicle parked in the 2500 block of 200th Avenue after a vandal threw a rock through the window before Nov. 22.

Oh, deer

Police euthanized a deer near the corner of Southeast Duthie Hill Road and 266th Avenue Southeast on Nov. 22. The deer suffered serious injuries after a passing vehicle hit the animal.
